A poem of my last night with a friend and brother.

CHEROKEE CORNER

This happened to me
It seems such a long time ago
To me and my friend Howling Wolf
In the land of everlasting snow
We sipped hot sweet tea.
And spoke of many things
We smoked the sacred pipe
And our thoughts flew on wings.
For many summers said he
Have we walked as brothers
But soon our paths will part
For I must take another.
For me the Ghost Wolf will come
Your path has yet a way to go
As you walk the next trail
My body will lie in the everlasting snow.
The fire flickered and shadows moved
Was the Ghost Wolf one?
The dark sky was showing light
It was almost dawn.
Then another shadow moved
Closer to the fire's dying glow
Howling Wolf left then, on a different path
But his body still lies in that everlasting snow.
