I flew over a mountain
Into the valley below
And I carried a man to his grave
I wondered as I walked those last few steps
Does anyone know his name?
Oh, people came from miles around
They said, to pay their last respects
But I wondered as we lay him down
Does anyone know his name?
The preacher there said some mighty fine words
About the man and his fame
And I wondered as I listened then
Does anyone know his name?
Flowers there were, from everyone there
And they wept at his grave
But as we slowly walked away
I wondered, does anyone know his name?
