I stood alone on a cliff
Above the Pacific Ocean
Remembering.
The sky darkened
The sea seemed to grow angry.
Sailors will tell you
That the sea is a woman.
Did she know I was leaving?
It seemed so long
Since I had left that island.
Poji had been taken from me
And the Gods were relentless.
I must escape.
I sailed to other shores
Still they pursued me.
One day a wise man told me
"Poji was a child of the sea.
You must leave
You must go to a place
Where there are no seas
There the Gods will not follow."
One love had been taken
The other I must forsake.
Was this their revenge?
A poet once said
Hell hath no fury like a woman spurned.
The sea knew that I was leaving
She was trying to reach outto me.
Even from my high perch
I could feel her stinging spray.
I left with a heavy heart
Time would blur the mempry of Poji
But the sea is always there
And I could never return.
